Joint pains
Treating joint pains with Homoeopathic medicines is a subject which is of special interest to me. This happened when multiple cases of women post 45yrs of age visited me with common complaints of either
- knee pain
- multiple joint pains
- Sciatica
- backache.
A lot of them consumed over the counter painkillers and anti inflammatory medicines on a regular basis to get some relief from the pain, stiffness and swelling. Their routine life would be disturbed as activities like walking , climbing stairs, travelling long distance would be restricted.
In such cases, depending upon the severity of the disease, location ,type of pain and any aggravating factors, specific homoeopathic medicines are prescribed .These help ameliorate the stiffness of the joints, improve joint mobility, reduce the swelling and the pain.
In chronic cases, a detailed case study of the patient will help treat the underlying cause and also arrest the progress of the disease.

Case of Osteoarthritis Knee :
A 50 year old female comes with the complaint of persistent pain in her right knee. (X-ray showed the arthritic changes).She was unable to walk much, sit on the floor or even climb the staircase. As a housewife she had a lot of household chores to do, hence she just wanted some pain relief so that she could manage her daily life. A very specific homoeopathic medicine was prescribed for her knee pain and gradually she improved with the knee joint mobility, stiffness and pain. Also some knee exercises were explained to her to be done every day along with ice /hot fomentation. Today she is pain free and happy that she is able to go out and not depend on anyone for her routine activities. She has not taken any painkillers since she has been under Homoeopathic treatment.
